2025 will soon be a memory. Thursday will usher in 2026, and people will begin planning.

How to lose weight.

Eat healthy.

Finish projects.

Restore relationships.

A fresh, new start.

2026.

Only a Thursday, really, like any other Thursday, except we choose to make that day a focal point. And that’s okay. I mean, why not? I feel like I need a fresh start, even if it is in the middle of winter.

Maybe that’s the best time to begin. When everything is sleeping, tucked away until the warmth of spring awakens.

In the dead of winter, life slows, at least for me. I can find more time to seek. Pray. Ponder. Figure out what life in 2025 was all about. My word for this past year was giving.

As I mentioned before, I didn’t figure out what God really meant until August. That’s when I realized He didn’t want me to give to others as much as He wanted me to give everything to Him. All the heartache, the pain, the disappointment, the discouraging days.

Because He is the only one who can restore.

And I need restoration.

So, as I wait for my word (my focus) for 2026, I’ll take some time to give everything to God. The good, the bad, the blah. And watch Him turn everything for good.

Because He can.

What do you look forward to in 2026? Are you a planner? Do you choose a word or focus for each new year? I’d love to know…
