Friday Fiction: Books From Off the Beaten Track

My friends who love books as much as I do.

Daughter, sister, friend, huge nerd, procrastinator… All are words Cammi Woodall uses to describe herself. A new one she is using is “writer.” That is scary! Cammi is a writer. Her hands shake when she says it or writes those words.

After keeping her stories hidden away for decades, she’s decided 2018 is her year to jump out of her comfort zone and get her writing to the public.

Despite darker reading habits, a comic thread weaves its way through her fictional stories. Even in emotional pieces, her characters use humor to cope with everyday tragedies. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying!

Cammi has contributed articles to inspiredprompts.com and was a contributor from 2018 to 2020. She looks forward to the day she can list the titles of her completed novels!

You can find Cammi on Facebook or follow her on Pinterest.

A.S. Hardin has relished a love for reading and writing since childhood. Her eclectic, adventurous spirit shows in both the books she chooses and in the worlds she creates. Aside from a number of virtual book clubs, she is also a member of the Lawrence County Writers’ Guild, and she participates annually in NaNoWrMo events.

When not reading or writing, A.S. loves to spend time running, hiking, playing a few video games, as well as engaging in a good campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. In addition to reading, A.S. enjoys listening to podcasts like “Sawbones” and “The Dead Robots Society.” A few of her favorite authors are James Rollins, Dean Koontz, and Anne McCaffery. She has a passion for cultivating a love of reading in others, especially younger generations.

You can follow her on her website and Facebook.

Melissa J. Troutman is a Christian author of fantasy stories with real journeys. She lives near the majestic Rocky Mountains in Colorado, where she works as a teacher and tutor.

Melissa has been reviewing books since 2011. Her favorite thing after reading a good book is sharing a good book, and she especially loves promoting lesser-known gems of quality story and writing. Her happy places of reading include fantasy (YA in particular), historical fiction, mystery, and biography.

Arthur: Just call me Arthur. I have been reading, writing, and reviewing books of many genres since about 1970. I love high fantasy, hard science fiction, and writers who bring out and solve moral dilemmas with strong moral courage. I love books that explore different cultures and different languages. I hate books that transplant modern Americans and modern American values into cultures and times where they do not fit and characters that are moral wimps.

I have lived around the world, speak several languages (one of them well), eaten all sorts of food, and worked in several fields, from medicine to missionary literacy. I’m on Substack: https://substack.com/profile/146302109-arthur-yeomans

My website is arthuryeomans.com.

K.A. Ramstad lives at the foot of the Bitterroot Mountains in western Montana where deer and other wildlife regularly pass by her house. She enjoys writing about young heroes, their travels, and their talking animal friends. She wants her readers to have fun in a fantastical world while encountering God-honoring themes. Besides creating stories, she likes reading, drawing, coffee, and being with her two dogs: her Corgi, Maggie, and her cockapoo, Benny.
