My sister-in-law Shawnna has always been very creative and decorates her home quite well. I envy her that way. She’s recently moved and doesn’t have all the décor they had in their previous home. She texted me one day and sent me a picture of some pumpkin shaped coasters, asking if I’d ever crocheted them before. “They’re super cute” she added. I told her that I’d crocheted hot pads and dish cloths, but never the coasters. I asked if she had a pattern. She said she’d try to find one.

The next day she wrote back. Her friend had told her she could find one on You-tube, but she wasn’t sure how to do it. I gave it a whirl and found a video with the pattern. Once I found what looked close to the picture she’d sent, I printed the directions and went AC Moore. I sent a picture of the yarn to Shawnna and when she gave me the thumbs up, I got to work.

I’ve made several for her. It’s been a lot of fun. I’m not sure whether Shawnna benefitted more from the coasters or if I did. Sometimes it works both ways.
