“Abba, into your hands I entrust my body, mind, and spirit and this entire day–morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Whatever you want of me, I want of me, falling into You and trusting You in the midst of my life. Into your heart I entrust my heart, feeble, distracted, insecure, uncertain. Abba, unto you I abandon myself in Jesus our Lord. Amen.”

I closed this series of posts based on quotes from Ruthless Trust by Brennan Manning with a prayer he wrote. What concise writing. Honest and to-the-point.

I need to say this prayer daily.

Life is all about God’s will–a ruthless trust to abandon oneself to our heavenly Father and follow Him. No matter what the journey looks like.

Whether the mountain top or the valley lies ahead.

Whether we find life-giving birth or the grave.

One time, in the past, I really wanted a job. A certain occupation that had been a dream of mine for many years. I turned in a resume, went for the interview, and waited. And waited. To find later that someone else had been given the position. What? God? I thought I was right on the path to His will.

A few years later, an opportunity arose that, had I already been hired at my dream job, would have been a conflict of interest. I stepped into the new opportunity, not an easy one by any means, but the right one. At the time of my dream job, I could not understand why that door didn’t open. It made no sense.

But God wanted to open a different door at a different time. So, I had to wait.

I chose to entrust my heart–feeble, distracted, insecure, and uncertain as it tends to be–to Him.

And God truly knows best.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT says, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

I scoot back in my chair, release the tension in my shoulders, and rest in Him.

Wait for His direction. For He is good.

Do you have trouble waiting on God when life doesn’t make sense? Let’s talk about it…
