I read numerous books each year, both fiction and nonfiction. I love engaging my emotions and mind while reading. Ruthless Trust by Brennan Manning does both.

Over the coming weeks, I’m going to share quotes from this thought-provoking book. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

When we get waylaid from our walk with God by busyness, depression, family problems, or worse, God does not abandon us.

What wonderful news. Every year, I promise God I will dedicate more of myself to Him. I will read more, study more, pray more, do more. Super Christian, that’s me.

Until.

Life happens.

Then I’m groveling in the dirt, asking forgiveness for once more being sidetracked by situations.

Circumstances.

People.

Life.

When hopelessness threatens to overtake me, I remember. God has not abandoned me. Even when I am filled with self-loathing, God loves me. And understands me.

Of course. Because, after all, He created me. Gave me specific talents, gifts, quirks, and a personality not quite like anyone else. Me.

I breathe in a deep breath and accept grace. God knows in my heart I want to be all He wants me to be. And that I won’t be able to reach all that is in my heart and mind this side of heaven.

He still loves me, and I trust Him. To help me reach my heavenly home.

Do you struggle with negative feelings toward yourself at times for not being all you think you should be? Let’s talk about it…
