Christmas can be stressful, busy, loud, and drama-filled. At times, this season can ramp up my anxiety and make me wish it would hurry and be over.

And then I remember.

The real reason for the season.

Jesus. The beginning of hope for mankind. Our Savior, who came to earth to begin his journey to the cross.

The grave.

Death and Hell.

The Resurrection and Ascension.

And now He is ever interceding for us, for me. What a joyous thought. Christ is in heaven praying for me.

I really, really need His prayers. Every second of every day.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NKJV

I believe, and He fills. By the power of the Holy Spirit.

This Christmas, I will believe, ignoring the chaos around me. Pulling away to a quiet place. Even if it means hiding in the bathroom for ten minutes. So, I can focus on Jesus, the light of Bethlehem.

THE LIGHT OF BETHLEHEM

By John B. Tabb

‘-Tis Christmas night! the snow,
A flock unnumbered lies:
The old Judean stars aglow,
Keep watch within the skies.
An icy stillness holds
The pulses of the night:
A deeper mystery infolds
The wondering Hosts of Light.
Till, lo, with reverence pale
That dims each diadem,
The lordliest, earthward bending, hail
The Light of Bethlehem!

How do you find time to focus on the reason for the season? I’d love to know…
