Lord of the Rings...Return of the King

The Story

Grace Stanton is beset by fear. She’s terrified of the strangers who invade the borders of the town of Fair Haven, especially the man with emotionless gray eyes and jagged scar across his face. Grace remembers the disappearance of a friend, and worries she could be next. When she receives an invitation to dine with the King of Fair Haven, she is surprised and wary of what lies ahead in her life.

Fair Haven is a town surrounded by massive stone walls, which protect the people from an enemy that lurks ever threatening outside.  The King has provided Fair Haven with a small army of warriors, scouts, gap builders, wall guards and encouragers. These groups not only protect the town but serve its people in practical ways. The encouragers are men and women who provide help to those in need and promote unity throughout the entire kingdom. They have aged, however, and the King is training a new, young group of encouragers.

Grace is a young woman who works on a farm with her aging parents secretly envisioning a day when she can become more than a farmer’s daughter. Though loving the farm and her parents, she feels a higher calling on her life to serve King and country. Doors open and she is swept into the adventure of a lifetime, training to become an encourager. Her fears of rejection and failure loom large, and her low self-esteem make Grace’s training difficult.

New challenges and the temptation to give up lurk around every corner as she daily trains to find the realization of her dreams. With the help of new encouragers, her mentor, and the ever present support of the King, Grace completes her training. Along the way she realizes that she is breaking free of the fear and insecurity that has ruled her life through dealing with repressed memories. Her biggest battles are with those fears and insecurities and she must find a way to overcome them without losing the hope and desire to go on. She has successes and failures along her journey which climax with an unexpected attack on the wall, near fatal illness, and graduation to the role of an encourager.

Journey of Grace parallels every Christian’s life. Everyone endures trials, attacks from the enemy, and relational issues in which we sometimes fail and sometimes succeed. Fears of every kind slow our progress. Through a strong relationship with God, family, and friends in Christ we can serve our God with purpose and passion. A life lived in Christ will always be an adventure, unfolding daily in its twists and turns. But the rewards are great and the journey worth all we endure. Journey of Grace will give you hope and strength to go on, as your own personal adventure of life unfolds before you.
